The Leather Sofa Shop only uses full grain aniline leather to upholster our range of Leather Sofas and Traditional Chesterfield Settees. Unlike some manufacturers we never compromise our high quality standards by using split hides or artificial leather on any part of our furniture. The hides of leather that we use are sourced in the UK and sent over to Italy to be tanned before they are delivered to our factory ready for upholstery. Why not see the true quality of our leathers for yourself either by visiting our factory showroom or by requesting samples below free of charge:
Aniline is a translucent dye used to colour leather, made from an organic compound its history dates back to the mid 1800′s when it was invented by the English chemist Perkins. Due to the translucent properties of aniline, it will show through all of the natural characteristics of the original hide. These may include marks, scars and colour variations which demonstrate just how natural the product is, “you can’t tell a cow how to grow it’s skin” is a popular phrase in the industry.
We love selling aniline leather sofas, they are a truly unique product that will set you home apart from any other. However if you don’t feel that this leather is for you don’t worry, we deal with all of the leather suppliers in the UK and have access to literally thousands of different leathers including the more mainstream corrected grain (consistent finish). Please feel free to contact us using the form or phone if you would like us to send you samples of other leathers.

Considered by many to be the softest, most natural and attractive leather full aniline this is the most expensive and sought after hide money can buy. These are leathers which have been processed using an aniline dye solution with no solid colour pigment added to the surface. This method of processing maintains all of the natural markings of the original hide, the result is a beautiful, completely unique finish. Only the very best hides can be used to produce full aniline leathers which is why they warrant a price premium. This type of leather requires the most looking after and regular cleaning with a specialist leather care kit. Aniline leather is available on all of our leather sofas and chesterfield sofa.
Semi Aniline Leathers have a similar finishing process to full aniline leathers however these do contain a small amount of colour pigment in the aniline dye. This helps to “semi correct” the leather and block out some of the natural markings, but enough markings and colour variations remain to maintain the natural grain and character of the leather. The surface coating also helps to improve durability as it helps to reduce minor scratching from belt buckles etc. Offering a perfect combination of the softness and natural feel of full aniline leather with the protective benefits of a wax surface coating. Semi Aniline Leather is available on all of our leather sofas and chesterfield sofa.
This type of leather is dyed using solid colour pigments, without any aniline. The grain pattern of this type of leather is embossed on to the hide, resulting in a very even, consistent finish. In gaining consistency the hide looses all of its natural character, no markings, blemishes or colour variations will be present on the sofa. Corrected grain leather is the most durable, it wont mark easily and is water resistant. Corrected Grain Leather is available on all of our leather sofas and chesterfield sofa.however is not shown on our site. Please request samples over the phone.
